Chica-Loca! (which translates as ‘crazy woman’ in Spanish) was founded in 2004. It is owned and designed by Benita Allen, who describes the designs as “innately feminine with a touch of tongue-in-cheek.”
Having mastered the art of mixing colour and texture with innovative design and real-life functionality, Allen understands the importance of keeping up-to-date with trends.
Allen’s design philosophy begins with the cloth itself. Choosing the right fabric is the starting point on the journey towards a breath-taking garment.
As a designer, her main aim is to deliver something fresh, unlike anything else locally available. A Chica-Loca! piece works as effortlessly at Cape Town’s trendy Kloof street cafés as it would in the vibrant, cobbled streets of Rio. Her trademark wrap dress is a must in any chic urban wardrobe.
